About me

As an unfilial little kid, I nitpicked my immigrant family's Cantonese quite a lot (only deep in my head, of course :) But what I did not realize until my last year of college was that there is an area of science that allows you to study human speech sounds systematically and scientifically. Naturally, I applied for an MA in linguistics at HKU where I found my life-long passion - phonetics. But as I transitioned to this new area of study, the obstacles and challenges I encountered as a former art major had slowed me down inevitably.

What got me through my struggling journey and eventually landed on a PhD offer were the abundant resources published by generous and genius linguists. I want to be a part of this community. So here I want to post useful materials that can help you step into the world of human speech sounds - as I am also doing so myself.

R Studio Tutorial for Phonetic Research

The most relevant R tutorial you could find online for phonetic research. However, if you are a competely new to R/statistics, I strongly advise you watch some foundational R/statistics videos on youtube to help you understand the basic equations and formulae.
